New Jersey - A Garden State of MinD...(Medical Marijuana
New Jersey finally joined the future of America by making “Medical Marijuana legal…with many restrictions and limitations of course. However, it is a start. The only thing that worries me about it is that people have a tendency to “ABuse” rather than “use”. I came up from a generation that had the greatest exposure to “pot”. We learned on our own and from my experience I learned that marijuana can be used to serve a good and wholesome purpose when it is used in a sacred and respectful way whereas it is honored. The Native Americans used tobacco as a medicinal. They treated it as a sacred plant and the leaf was used to heal physical wounds and the smoke to heal the spirit when exhaled by the community shaman or medicine man over the person with illness. Now that same element of tobacco used by too many Americans in a habitual and addictive manner has turned this sacred and effective medicinal into a killer. Snake venom used in the proper dosage can heal and in the wrong dosage can kill. This is my only fear with marijuana. I fear that it will be taken for granted and abused. We tend to overindulge in things. I also do not like it being called a drug. Drugs are made in the laboratory by people and for profit. Marijuana is an element of the earth just like our vegetables. However, it doesn’t feed our bodies it feeds our spirits and it has the ability to allow us to gain a more wholesome and healthy perspective about ourselves and humanity as well as God and the Universe it we use it with proper intent. And, yes, yes, yes it can do this. It is for this reason it used to be referred to as a “Mind Expanding Drug” although I believe the word drug is a misnomer and unhealthy. Medical Marijuana (cont) People will say to me does this mean that heroin and cocaine are “elements of the earth” also. My answer is this. In South America people use the coco leaf for many ailments including menstrual cramps, fevers and an array of others. This is the leaf in its natural from and used as a tea. Cocaine is a man-made process that turns this natural resource into an addictive killer. God and nature did not give it to us this way. As for heroin I believe it can be used to help people with deeply rooted psychological problems under proper supervision not on the street just to get high and run away from a society that all too often drives people to drink and drug. Much of it has to do with righteous intent. As soon as greed and corruption come into the equation rather than a righteous intent to do good for another person the result is warped and harmful because the intent is warped. We are too damned selfish and don’t have enough “selfless” intent. You can complain about America all you want but we have no one to blame but ourselves. Why? Because we have gotten what we deserve as far as our so-called leaders go. We can’t even treat each other right. Just go on our highways and see the lack of respect and consideration we have for each other. If you want a better America start with yourself. So don’t worry about marijuana hurting us we do a good enough job of it ourselves. Marijuana will do well when we keep good in our hearts and minds. |
